Issyk-Kul State University
Issyk-Kul State University is located in the center of the picturesque Issyk-Kul
region, the city of Karakol. Being one of the largest educational institutions in the
country, the university was established by the decree of the Council of People's
Commissars of the Kyrgyz SSR on June 13, 1940 as a two-year teacher's institute.
The first director of the institute was A. Shendrikh, and his deputy was the famous
philologist Z. Bektenov.
